Amanda Lindberg
Amanda Lindberg is a young woman with a broad spectrum of interests. She has studied Creative Writing and Literature for two years at the University of Essex. The autumn 2009 she transferred her studies to Stockholm University, finishing them in January 2011 which resulted in a BA in Literature and Creative Writing.
Because of her advanced study within the field of writing itself Amanda feels comfortable and competent in writing both poetry, articles, short stories, scientific essays and novels. She also has an extensive knowledge within the field of literature, where she has studied both classical literature and modern one as well as literature analysis. Her studies also included education within Art History and Mythology.
She has a firm belief that literature has a much greater role than mere entertainment and harbors a great interest in the psychological and scientific areas connected to literature and story-telling. The spring 2010 she wrote her yearly dissertation in literature on 'magic realism', with focus on what happens in the mind of the reader during the actual reading process and why this can be used as a way to define magic realism as a genre. It was well-received within the department.
Her final year dissertation had its focus on fairy tales; their complexity and their influence on society. The aim of the dissertation was to show that fairy tales are not merely tales for children but indeed very complex psychological accounts.
Apart from writing at Suite101 she has just begun working on an extensive website of her own, AvoidAcademy, which is far from finished but which she has great hopes for.
She is also working on a fantasy trilogy which is going well and which she aims to have published.
Writing and developing her skill within the area is a main interest for Amanda, and she has written fiction for several years, as well as poetry, but now she feels she has something more to contribute with and so decided to embark on her own freelance writing career.
